As a member of the crafts group, building and renovating offices and building interior spaces are important aspects of this position. Additionally, repair of all building aspects including walls, doors, floors, and windows. I aid the IT department by installing electronic equipment including speakers, amplifiers, televisions, and other systems. I am responsible for the quality and safety of my work, and ensure that the people I work with are diligent as well. My position involves reviewing work orders, creating project drawings, maintaining all carpentry shop equipment in good operational condition, as well as being responsible for ordering and procuring project related materials, and delegation of duties to building maintenance staff.

I have a good relationship with the vendors I work with to get our needs met with quality and minimum disruption to students and faculty. The interaction and communication between staff and demand groups are an important aspect to any project and our vendors respect the unique scheduling challenges we have.

 Working with other departments has always been great at GCC because the staff are grateful, and the facilities department management is always acting in our best interest.

CEO / Program Director, Martin Art Center  

Arizona STEAM Shop, Makerspace, Glendale, AZ, Part time 

             While working at GCC, I founded a community center in Glendale, AZ a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization to provide informal job readiness skills for children and adults who may not have the resources to use technology in a free afterschool center setting.

My duties included administration, reporting and grant writing, development of programs and hiring and training of staff as well as leading many class topics, in partnership with the City of Glendale, AZ. My duties also included hiring and directing up to 8 paid staff, and 15 volunteers and Interns. Student volunteers from Glendale Community College and Arizona State University facilitated many of our programs, for which I performed training, reporting, and scheduling.

Four years working with children and adults part-time after work and weekends to increase workplace employment skills and focus on the importance of purposeful education by providing STEAM / STEM education programs to the public. Groups include home-school children, The Spina Bifida Foundation, and Service Veterans in evening programs as well as after-school, summer, and winter break classes. The STEAM shop provided programs such as Arduino programing, 3-D printing, Robotics, MS Office. Aided adults applying for and getting jobs in the west valley and various art programs liaison.

Mosaic Arts Center, Makerspace, Avondale, AZ, Part time

Co-Founder of a learning center and Makerspace in Avondale, AZ serving under-served children and adults to increase workplace employment skills in a Makerspace, with an average of one hundred hours monthly in service, this, after working a full workday, getting off at 2:30 p.m. and spending another 6 to 8 hours per day at the Mosaic. We had a staff of four people, all of whom were from Maricopa Community College, who helped provide these free programs to the public in partnership with the City of Avondale, AZ.
